The 10th edition of the Dutch Supercross will not take place this year.
Last year September we were quite surprised, the Eurohal where we’ve organized the Supercross for years, was not available. The premises was rented by COA, an government
organization to host asylum seekers.
Iniately the contract was for 6 months, however, in March it became clear that the contract was extended with another half year. The Eurohal in Zuidbroek will remain an emergency
overflow asylum shelter, until at least September 2023.
Once we’ve been informed about timelines, we iniated meetings with the owner Van der Valk in order to clarify, if it was possible to organize the 10th edition of the Dutch
Supercross.
It soon became clear that Van der Valk would like to proceed, but in addition there are a lot of footnotes to be taking into account. For example: uncertainty about departure of current
tenants, time needed to restore the Eurohal in an optimal Dutch Supercross ‘event’ condition, and to be available for our organizing team.
Also there’s a lot of uncertainty in regards to last minute decisions made by government officials, to extend the lease contract, when numbers of arriving asylum seekers might
exceed the forecasts made for the second half year 2023.
Therefore and as a result of all outlined above, we’ve decided it is not the right time to organize the Dutch Supercross in a necessary thorough and careful manner.
